Donovan Calls for Transparency in Advancing PPP Initiatives

Nairobi City, Kenya (May 25, 2016) – “Transparency in processes, perceptions and governance in public-private partnership projects is essential, along with government incentives. Without it, the private sector will remain unconvinced of PPP initiatives,” Chairman of ADEC Innovations Foundation and Global CEO Alliance James M. Donovan said during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Strathmore Business School.

The MoU fosters the joint creation of a center of excellence for the development of information and communications technology (ICT) in public-private partnerships (PPP), which is in line with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) need for an International Centre of Excellence in PPP for ICT.

Donovan added that there is a need to put into focus the best practices garnered from successful PPPs, ones that address critical obstacles to facilitating a successful pipeline of projects integral to national development.

The joint center of excellence with Strathmore Business School, which will function as a research and innovations laboratory will establish the standards and best practices in PPP for ICT; coordinate with different UNECE member countries for ICT research; create a pool of subject matter experts for the development of UNECE ICT standards; and build partnerships with different public organizations for the development of standards and best practices in PPP for ICT.

In 2015, ADEC Innovations Foundation was designated by the UNECE as a host organization for one of the world’s International Specialist Centres for Excellence in PPP, whose main aim is to prepare best practice guidelines in PPP and help governments build capabilities in successful PPP projects. Meanwhile, the Global CEO Alliance is a network of global CEOs who support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
